The FLY HAUS Guides
We know our local waters better than anyone.
We live here, grew up here and have fished these waters for decades. Our watershed is a great habitat for Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout as well as warm water species including Bass and Carpe.
We guide on many diverse fisheries including the renowned Battenkill River, Mettawee River, Otter Creek, Wallomsac River, Hoosic River and local mountain creeks across Southern Vermont and New York.

Your guide will tailor your trip to the group’s experience level and goals. With no more than 3 anglers per guide, each person will get personalized attention.
Wading fly fishing trips allows anglers to work a specific area thoroughly and access different locations only accessible by walking. A great option for anglers new to the area looking to get familiar with our local fisheries and novice anglers wanting to establish a solid foundation of fly fishing skills.

Do I tip my guide? How much should I tip?
Fly fishing guides provide an invaluable service to anglers by offering their expertise, knowledge of the local waters, and providing all the necessary equipment for a successful day on the river. In addition to their hard work and dedication, guides rely heavily on tips as a significant portion of their income in order to support their families. However, tipping guidelines for fly fishing guides can be unclear, especially for those who are new to the sport.
It’s generally recommended to tip your guide between 20-25% of the total cost of the trip. Although, this can vary depending on a variety of factors, such as the length of the trip, the level of service provided, and the overall experience. If your guide provided exceptional service or went out of their way to ensure that you had a memorable experience, it’s appropriate to tip accordingly.
You can be sure that your tip reflecting their hard work and dedication is very much appreciated.
